Change Your LocationBattle of the Bands at Stevens Steak House: Salsa vs. Bachata!

LOS ANGELES, CA — On Sunday, March 28th, 2010, Los Angeles came together at Stevens Steak & Seafood House for an explosive night of Live music and fluid dancing where two bands and two dancing scenes went head to head to defend and represent two different Latin styles of music and dancing: Salsa and Bachata. For a while now, in a city where Salsa has been king (or queen) for decades and its style of dancing, L.A. Style On1, has bee popularized globally throughout the years, Bachata has abruptly stepped in to seemingly take over a big portion of the appreciation and love that dancers, musicians, and djs have to give to the Latin scene. The rivalry between Salsa and Bachata could be felt and the visionary mind of Jim Philipan, owner of Stevens Steak House, conceived the idea that a duel should be arranged to finally prove which scene was #1 in L.A.!
The date was set, the players were scheduled, and the anticipation and hype begun building up as Salsa would be represented by Lucky 7 Orquestra and Bachata by Abo Solano. And finally, last night, the long-awaited event finally took place at the #1 Salsa & Bachata venue in Los Angeles, Stevens Steak House! What better location than the location that saw the birth of L.A. Style Salsa Dancing and its evolution through the years; and which, most recently, began promoting Bachata on two of their weekly nights and has attracted legions of new dancers to the L.A. dancing scene! Stevens Steak House was the perfect stage for this event and the only venue with the innovative visionary willingness to put it together.
People made long lines to get in all night long and even valet parking filled up to capacity by 10 PM. The excitement and anticipation were prevalent in all those who were anxious to get in the venue and that was amazing to watch, given the state of our current economy and how harshly the dancing clubs have been affected. Stevens Steak House is surely staying on top by their hard work and the trust in the market they cater to, as they put together productions that others don't dare to try given the required investment. For this, the crowds were thankful and the rooms were filled with spirits of celebration all over as people shared their love and passion for the music and the dance!
The event was a tremendous success with great music being played in both differing styles. The crowds danced and rejoiced to everything that came out of the speakers. And additionally, there were three dancing shows by Alma Latina (performing in Bachata & Salsa) and by Bachata Caliente (performing in Bachata), as the crowds continued to be entertained throughout the night. Surely, everyone left pleased and excited, and looking forward to the next Salsa and Bachata event at Stevens Steak House!
