Change Your LocationWhy are some Professional Salsa Dancers unwilling to 'really' teach beginners?
Thu, Jun 16, 2011 08:52 AM by Milton RodasSALSA DANCING BEWARE — It is common knowledge that there are some professional salsa dancers in every scene who truly wish to make have a grand lifestyle off what they do with their dancing and teaching in the salsa scene. These pro dancers see each person in their classes as cash flow that they better squeeze out like a lemon before they are gone to learn from someone else or to not take any lessons anymore.
These pro dancers will be quick to promote their "private dance lessons," their "shoe lines," or their "salsa wear fashion dresses," etc, etc., to dancers who have attended only one of their lessons. You will hear a line that sounds a bit like this about their private lessons: "if you truly want to learn to dance, you have to pay me to teach you privately, where all my attention can be given to…
Salsa Classes | Los Angeles Salsa Classes
Fri, May 20, 2011 10:14 AM by Milton RodasLOS ANGELES SALSA CLASSES — Los Angeles is by far one of the most populous salsa dancing cities in the world. There is even a "L.A. Salsa Style" of salsa dancing that is taught in a multitude of countries and is, perhaps, the most popular style of salsa dancing in the world. We are truly a mecca for salsa dancing worldwide and salsa classes in Los Angeles can be found everywhere!
Nightclubs — Usually, nightclubs offer salsa dance lessons before a salsa dancing night. Students arrive about 2 hours before the dancing starts and learn from instructors that show up to teach them. Look at our calendar for salsa events and simply pick a venue that is close to you (or wherever you'd like to go to) and read the description of the event. You might find that they offer the classes and you can just show up, withour a…
Salsa Dancing | Learn to Dance Salsa with Salsa Bootcamps, at Clubs or Studios, with Private Lessons, or with Salsa DVDs?
Thu, May 19, 2011 12:03 PM by Milton RodasLEARNING TO DANCE SALSA — Many dancers often ask for opinions and suggestions on how they should learn to dance salsa and what method would give them better and faster results. The question often rotates between the options of Salsa Bootcamps, Club or Studio Dance Lessons, Private Lessons, or straight Instructional DVDs.
Learning to dance Salsa can be difficult, especially for individuals who have no natural rhythm and/or have difficulty telling apart beats in music and/or different songs. That, in itself, will be a defining factor in how fast and how well a person learns how to dance. So, the first step I always tell people to take is to simply be honest with themselves in how rhythmic they are with music.
If you are a very rhythmic person, even during your first lesson, when the instructor goes "left, right, left ... right, left, right" you will step…

Wed, Dec 01, 2010 02:41 PM by Randy KishThis article was made possible by contributions of San Diego's top salsa instructors.
The San Diego Salsa scene has several talented dance instructors. We don’t see them out socially as much as we’d like as their services are high demand. While in town, they work tirelessly in studio with their teams and private students - exhausted by day end making social dancing a chore. They can often be found on airplanes, hotels and rental cars while they travel to teach or perform around the world. As such, we often forget that this group represents some of our best social dancers. Each instructor is gifted with special talents; from technique, footwork, patterns and styling. The tips below were all provided by San Diego’s top dance instructors, organized for leads and follows, but read them all! Give these a try to improve your technique, timing and style. A bonus tip for…Guys, Be "The Man" in Salsa!
Fri, Jan 15, 2010 07:01 PM by Milton RodasIf you are driving a vehicle with passengers and you get into an accident, it is your fault, even if the person to your side was distracting you. You are the person at the wheel and you should have kept your eyes on the road. But it would naturally be easier to blame someone else for your driving error, right?
Well, in Salsa, if you are leading a lady in a dance and she's getting hit from every direction, even if she is a beginner and a bit rough to handle, guess whose fault it is? Yes, yours. Likewise, if you pull a move on a lady and she cannot follow it, even if she has noodle arms or fingers, is over-extending, or is a beginner in dance, guess whose fault it is that she could not do that move? Yes, yours! Something we (guys) know that women…
How do you successfully meet great looking women who are everything you want in the Salsa scene?
Tue, Jan 12, 2010 01:18 PM by Milton RodasChoosing Instructors: "Our Clients Success is Our Best Advertising"
Sat, Oct 10, 2009 02:23 AM by SalsaHook adminMany very successful business firms utilize the slogan "Our Clients Success is Our Best Advertising" or "...Our Best Testimonial," or other variations of it, as they feel confident in their work and the services that they provide to their clients. If you are looking to become a client of such business, you would look at the success they have helped their clients attain, and you would determine them to be exactly what you are looking for, if you wish to have similar success. On the other hand, if such business really has nothing to demonstrate with the services that they have provided to their clients, you would most certainly not do business with them and find yourself a service provider that will be able to help you attain the success that you seek.

Salsa Dance Shoes in Los Angeles
Thu, Sep 24, 2009 12:00 PM by SalsaHook adminSo, you are ready to buy dance shoes, but you don't know where to go? :) First of all, congratulations, and secondly, we want to help you!
Many times, even people who have been dancing for a while in L.A. do not know where to go to find good salsa dance shoes. Below we have posted a list of the most well-known stores in Los Angeles. We only picked stores that have been known to be around for many years; there may be new stores that are selling dance shoes right now, but we will not post them unless they remain in business for a long time, as dance shoe stores or retailers come and go all the time and we don't want to update this article 10 times in the next year or so. ;-)
The stores we have picked are not paying for any advertising or…
Dance Shoes and Salsa Dancing ... Do you need them to dance better?
Thu, Sep 24, 2009 10:35 AM by SalsaHook adminWhen you fall in love with Salsa dancing and you begin to go out more, you may start realizing that many people wear a certain type of shoes and soon you find out they are actually called "dance shoes." To complete newcomers to the dance scene, people who have never taken lessons or ever heard of such a thing as "partner dancing", the idea of wearing shoes that are actually built with the concept of "dancing" in mind, is one that is a bit odd at first. But since you love your new hobby so much, and you want to improve, you inevitably start wondering if the shoes could actually help.
For guys, for the most part, a simple shoe with non-sticky soles will do, so this article refers solely to women. Sorry guys...but seriously, do not rush out there to get 1 1/2 inch heel shoes for yourselves!…
