JOHNNY VAZQUEZ 1999 (Year) PERFORMANCE — For anyone who has ever been anyone within the world famous Los Angeles Salsa Scene, Johnny Vazquez is a name that resonates strongly and carries a lot of weight with it. Johnny is truly a legend of the west, of Los Angeles, of Salsa, of the L.A. Salsa Style that is taught around the world. 

Johnny began dancing at an early age following the footsteps of his brothers Francisco Vazquez and Luis Vazquez, both of whom are also Los Angeles Salsa mega-stars. All three of the Vazquez brothers are legendary around the world, but Johnny Vazquez, in specific, is a legend ranking at a level of his own. 

What would it be to be Johnny Vazquez and be known for so many accomplishments? We'll have to ask him one day...

Anthony is an afficionado videographer who captured, throughout the years, dancers who went on to become popular personalities of Salsa around the world and legendary images of what Los Angeles is all about. As you watch this video, keep in mind that many of those tricks you see were done for the first time ever in Salsa when Johnny performed in L.A. (example: male cart-wheel). Everything Johnny did was innovative. You might have seen performances today or many years ago that had these tricks in them, or more complex tricks or movements, but you have to remember the year in which this was recorded: 1999.

This is where L.A. Salsa has its foundation. Even back then, Johnny still surpasses the level of dancing of many in LA. A very antique style of performance and dancing, but precision, cleanliness, sharpness, and energy are all his!
