Her classes are taught with LIVE DRUMMING according to Cuban costumes and are a great experience for anyone who has never seen anything like this. I truly recommend you go if you have an interest in Afro-Cuban! 

The reason why I recommend Afro-Cuban to salsa dancers is because the body movements in it will definitely improve the way you look out on the dance floor, how you feel to your partner, and how others appreciate your dancing as they watch you. You won't look stiff anymore (if that's a problem for you), you will interpret the music better and with more 'sabor' (flavor), and/or you will have hip movements that you never knew you had. All of which will come out naturally as you dance, once you take these afro-cuban lessons. Go take them!

Kati is, by far, one of the most knowledgeable and skilled instructors that I've ever had the pleasure of learning from. Kati began her dance training at age 9 and continued through age 20. She trained rigorously in various programs and graduated from the Escuela Nacional de Las Artes (ENA)  in Havana, Cuba. 

Her dance training includes modern dance, all aspects of Cuban folkloric and ballet, as well as composition and staging. 

Kati continued her dance studies in Cuba at the Instituto Superior de Las Artes (ISA), and was part of various dance companies in Havana performing at venues such as El Teatro Mella and El Teatro Nacional. 

She has shared the stage with personalities such as Cuban jazz master Chucho Valdés. She has also performed painted as the Orisha Elegguá with visual artist Manuel Mendive, danced with well-known choreographer Santiago Alfonso, performed Afro-Cuban dance with the legendary singer Mercedita Valdés, and danced for very popular Cuban orchestras.

Through her unique and privileged experiences, Kati has developed a highly versatile dance style and many doors in the Cuban entertainment industry, as well as the world, have opened for her. 

Among her international accomplishments, at a very young age and shortly after graduating from her studies, Kati was selected to represent Cuba in the Feria Internacional de Huelva Andalucía and toured Spain for six months with well-known Cuban group Manolito Sibonet y Su Trabuco. She has also traveled with various Cuban-sponsored musical groups to Portugal, the Bahamas, and Costa Rica, to perform and teach. 

She lived in Costa Rica for five years, choreographing and performing with the Puro Sabor Productions directed by Joel Drig. She also appeared on television shows such as "Buen Día" and "A Todo Dar!", and taught Cuban folkloric dance and modern dance at Ache Dance Studio.

Surely, one can say that as a dancer, Kati Hernández is highly accomplished, well-traveled, and has been an ambassador of Cuban dance and folklore in many nations. 

Today, Kati lives in Santa Monica, CA. She performs, choreographes, and teaches Afro-Cuban folklore, Afro-Cuban jazz, modern dance, and other Cuban dance styles around the area, which includes greater Los Angeles. She has given workshops with master percussionist Francisco Aguabella and well-known folklorist and teacher Lazaro Galarraga.
